Coworking with Outdoor Seating Across the US
Outdoor seating at a coworking space usually means one of three things: a rooftop, a patio, or a deck. LANS lists 21 spaces with outdoor seating across 20 cities, and the eight below show how different that can look in practice. Some rooftops are built for a full afternoon of laptop work. Others are an end-of-day bonus you earn after the last meeting. Every one of them is a $14 day pass, Monday to Friday, no membership required.

Outdoor coworking, compared: rooftops, decks and patios
The outdoor space at these eight spots is not one thing. Four have rooftops: The Shop in New Orleans describes its rooftop as an end-of-day option, Werqwise in San Mateo has a rooftop deck that gets solid use on sunny days with seating set up for working with a view, Bond Collective in Bushwick offers rooftop access alongside strong natural light, and Desklabs in Chicago has a rooftop area that one visitor found unmaintained. Three have ground-level patios: BLANKSPACES Santa Monica has an outdoor patio available when weather allows, Union Worx in Arlington has a patio next to a clean kitchen and snacks, and Kiva Cowork in Santa Barbara has a back patio for outdoor work paired with quiet zones for calls. Hunt Street Station in Detroit lists outdoor working spaces without saying what kind, so ask before you plan a full day outside. If you want outdoor air and a real meeting room in the same building, Hunt Street Station, Kiva and BLANKSPACES all list meeting or conference rooms.
What to check before you book an outdoor day pass
Weather is the obvious one, and only BLANKSPACES and Kiva explicitly tie their outdoor space to conditions holding up. Noise is the second: Werqwise gets good focus marks on the rooftop but has had noise problems on the main work floor, and Desklabs has midday cleaning with strong chemicals around 9:30 a.m. on some days. Third is parking. Hunt Street Station has a free lot and free street parking, Kiva has free lot, free street and paid options, and BLANKSPACES has street parking that reviewers call unusually easy for Santa Monica. Werqwise is the one to plan around: first-come, first-served shared lot with limited spots. Every space on this page is a $14 day pass, so the cost is the same wherever you land.
Outdoor seating by city
New York, NY has the most outdoor-seating spaces on LANS with 2, and Brooklyn, NY adds 1 more across the river. California shows up four times on the list: Santa Monica, San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Mateo. Texas has two entries, Rowlett and Irving, and the Midwest and South fill out the rest with Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Evansville, Coral Gables and Kaukauna. Some of those cities have a single outdoor-seating space, so book early if you are set on a specific patio or rooftop on a sunny Friday.
